Manhattan Chronicles
 
Manhattan Chronicles has been created as a forum to interesting opinions and writing voices weather they belong to professional writers or talented unknowns.  The stories revolve around Manhattan, but we welcome readers and contributions from all over the world.  It is a quarterly online publication.
 
If you have a favorite book, movie or musical release that you want to share, we'd love to hear from you.  All the contributions are pro bono and we thank you.  For translations and works that show promise but need further editing we can put you in contact, for a fee, with one of our freelance copy editors.

If you are sending possible story ideas or commentaries, please send everything in the body of the email.  Do not send links to photo galleries or attached files. They will be deleted.   
 
Editor and Founder: Alexandra Ares   
 
Alexandra Ares is a writer, novelist, screenwriter and filmmaker, former journalist. She was born in Bucharest, Romania and has been living in New York since 1998. She started her career as a producer/director/host for network television and later developed  a passion for writing: novels, plays, screenplays and non fiction.  Alexandra is author of four books (Stranded in the Past; Sam Shephard,  a Rebel of Rigoris Mortis; Waking Beauty  and the best seller novel "Dream Junkies" translated in Romanian at the top publishing house in Romania, Polirom.  Besides the screenplay for “Men Heaven,” Alexandra Ares has just completed a new novel, “My life on Craigslist.” (Note: Written in the form of the memoir, it is a coming of age story of a WASP 25 year-old girl who lives vicariously through the internet.)  
In all Alexandra directed, wrote and produced 10 documentaries with lengths ranging from 30 minutes to 90 minutes, shot in New York, Belgrade, Avignon, Bucharest, etc. She started working for the Romanian State Television (TVR) as a student and by the time she graduated she became a producer/director/host of a weekly TV show entitled “The Stage” as well as of documentaries and live events. Alexandra is a PhD, a member of Dramatist Guild of America and of the Writers Union of Romania.  Her works have been translated to Romanian and recently to Turkish. She is represented by the East/West Agency in Los Angeles. Alexandra also runs Smart Filmz, LLC.
